Terms of Service

These Terms explain the agreement between you and PhotoOra when you create an account, purchase an event, or contribute content.

The essentials. Paid events are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Guests can upload without an account, but only the host can manage the gallery. Keep your original files and download your gallery before it expires. Uploading does not transfer copyright to PhotoOra.

1. Who provides PhotoOra

PhotoOra is operated by PhotoOra LLC. General and privacy questions: hello@photoora.com. Account, event, and billing help: support@photoora.com.

“PhotoOra,” “we,” and “us” refer to PhotoOra LLC. For help with these Terms or a purchase, contact support@photoora.com.

Your service contract is with PhotoOra LLC. Its members, managers, employees, and contractors do not personally guarantee the company's contractual obligations merely by operating or supporting the service. This does not exclude anyone's liability for their own conduct where the law imposes it.

A host is the account holder responsible for an event. A guest contributes to an event. Content includes photos, videos, audio, names, captions, and other material submitted to the service.

These Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, and your confirmed purchase details form your service agreement when accepted through a purchase, upload, or other process that presents them for acceptance. The Privacy Policy explains data handling; accepting these Terms is not blanket consent to unrelated processing. An individually agreed written term or a specific confirmed package entitlement controls over a conflicting general description.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, purchase or host an event, or upload photos or videos to PhotoOra. Hosts and purchasers must also have the legal capacity to enter this agreement. If you act for an organization, you must be authorized to bind it. Adults may contribute appropriate family photos, including photos of children, that they are authorized to share.

Hosts need an account and verified email address. Provide accurate information, protect your sign-in credentials, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize, not automatically for a security failure caused by PhotoOra.

People under 18 must not create accounts, purchase or host events, or upload content, even with a parent's permission. This age requirement does not remove privacy protections for children or teenagers whose information appears in a contribution.

Purchases and uploads are available only in locations we support and where their use is lawful. Do not evade geographic, age, payment, or access restrictions. These eligibility rules do not prevent anyone from submitting a privacy or safety report.

3. What the service provides

A host creates an event and receives a share link and QR code. Guests use a supported browser to contribute photos or short videos. Depending on the package, the host can manage the gallery, run a slideshow, download files, and use theme or album tools.

The guest link is an upload invitation, not access to the host's gallery. Hosts can view and download contributions. Eligible content may also appear on the event's slideshow. A guest's "Host only" choice, where offered, excludes the contribution from that slideshow but does not prevent the host from downloading it.

Gallery access uses host authentication and temporary media links. Anyone who obtains a valid media link may be able to use it until it expires. Keep event and media links within the intended audience. Copies downloaded, printed, photographed from a screen, or shared outside PhotoOra are not under our control.

4. Packages, files, and storage limits

The package and limits shown before payment and in your purchase confirmation apply to your event. The standard packages are:

Scroll the table sideways to see all columns.

Current package limits; your confirmed purchase controls any different agreed entitlement.
PackagePhotosVideo clipsUpload storageGallery period
Free trial5None80 MiB7 days from creation
EssentialNo count cap4020 GiB6 months
CelebrationNo count cap15040 GiB12 months
UnforgettableNo count cap1,000100 GiB15 months

"Unlimited photos" means no numerical photo-count cap, not unlimited storage. Photos and videos share the event's storage allowance. Paid gallery periods start at the scheduled close of the upload window. MiB and GiB are binary units: 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes and 1 GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes.

Photos may be up to 12 MiB after processing. Essential videos may be up to 60 MiB and 10 seconds each. Celebration videos may be up to 100 MiB and 20 seconds each. Unforgettable videos may be up to 100 MiB and 20 seconds each. The free trial has no videos. Supported formats and device compatibility vary. Processing uploads can temporarily reserve capacity, and uploads may be refused when a limit is reached. The Fair Use Policy explains the allowances and intended event use. Later package changes do not reduce an existing purchase’s agreed entitlements.

Downloads contain the files stored by PhotoOra, not necessarily your originals. The standard browser uploader resizes large photos and converts them to JPEG. Resolution, format, metadata, and quality can change.

5. Event dates and upload windows

For paid events, the normal upload window opens 48 hours before the event date and closes seven days after it. When an event is purchased late, uploads remain open for at least seven days from creation. The dashboard and confirmation identify the applicable dates; contact us promptly about an error or inconsistency.

Before the normal window, each paid event includes up to 10 successful test uploads in total, subject to package file, video-count and storage limits. Deleting a successful test upload does not restore a place in this allowance; uploading it again uses another place. Uploads still processing temporarily reserve places until they finish or are cancelled or cleared. Test mode does not replace the normal event window. Pausing uploads does not restart or extend gallery retention.

Contact support about a mistaken date or postponement. A date change is not guaranteed, and you should rely only on a revised schedule confirmed by PhotoOra. An approved change must specify the new upload closing date and gallery expiration.

6. Gallery expiration, downloads, and deletion

The free trial expires seven days after creation and does not automatically become a paid subscription. Paid gallery access lasts for the package period measured from the scheduled upload closing date. Download and check your files before the expiration date displayed for your event.

"Keep forever" refers to copies you download and maintain yourself, not permanent hosting. PhotoOra is not an archival backup service. Uploads require connectivity and successful processing; keep the browser open until it confirms the result. Large downloads and album exports may require sufficient device memory and storage.

Expiration ends ordinary access. Expired media and generated previews then enter scheduled deletion. Paid events have a 14-day administrative buffer before routine deletion begins; free events do not. This buffer is not extra gallery access or a promised recovery period. Deletion is not instantaneous, and restricted records may remain for legitimate security, dispute, or legal-preservation purposes, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

Hiding a contribution from the slideshow is not deletion. Paid-event controls may allow host deletion; anyone can request privacy or safety removal through our reporting process, including for a free event. We cannot erase copies other people independently hold. Any reminder email is a convenience, not an extension of the stated expiration date.

7. Purchases and billing

Paid events are one-time purchases. Before paying, review the package, event dates, currency, total charge, and separately disclosed taxes. Prices are in U.S. dollars unless checkout clearly states otherwise. You authorize the displayed charge to your selected payment method.

Stripe or PayPal processes payments. PhotoOra's application does not store your full payment-card number or security code. Your bank or payment provider may charge separate fees. Promotions apply only when accepted in the checkout total and are subject to their disclosed conditions.

Payment confirmation and event creation may finish at different times. If you were charged but cannot access the event, contact us with the event and payment reference rather than purchasing repeatedly. We investigate duplicate charges and missing paid entitlements and correct confirmed billing errors.

8. Refunds and the 14-day cancellation policy

In plain language: request a change-of-mind cancellation within 14 days of purchase, before the first successful upload outside Test mode. An eligible refund is less a 2.9% cancellation fee. Designated Test mode uploads do not affect eligibility. We do not charge that fee for our confirmed billing errors, failure to provide the purchased service, or refunds required by law or payment-provider rules.

For any paid package, you may request a change-of-mind cancellation within 14 days of your completed purchase, before the event has begun collecting guest photos or videos. Approved change-of-mind refunds are subject to a 2.9% cancellation fee. Pre-event uploads made in PhotoOra’s designated Test mode do not affect your eligibility.

Guest collection begins when the event successfully receives its first photo or video outside Test mode, including an upload waiting for host review. Failed or rejected uploads do not count. Deleting a collected item does not restart eligibility. Designated test uploads have a TEST badge in the host dashboard.

To request a refund, email support@photoora.com within that 14-day period with your event name or ID and payment reference. Do not email card details. We review eligibility and issue approved refunds through the original payment method; you do not need to complete the refund process before the deadline, provided your request arrives in time.

The cancellation fee is 2.9% of the event price actually paid after discounts, excluding separately charged taxes, rounded to the nearest cent. We refund the remaining event price and any refundable taxes. For example, a $69.99 purchase with no tax has a $2.03 fee and a $67.96 refund. This is PhotoOra’s cancellation fee to help cover payment costs, not a statement of the exact fee charged by your payment provider. The same policy applies to cards and PayPal. Arrival depends on the payment provider and your bank.

No cancellation fee applies to refunds for a confirmed billing error by PhotoOra, our failure to provide the purchased service, or where a full refund is required by law or payment-provider rules. We issue full refunds for our confirmed billing errors or failure to provide the purchased service. Other technical complaints and requests after 14 days or after guest collection begins are reviewed case by case, subject to mandatory rights.

An approved cancellation ends the associated paid access even when a cancellation fee is retained. A full refund or payment reversal normally also ends paid access; a dispute may temporarily restrict access while investigated. A goodwill partial refund without cancellation does not by itself end access. These actions do not necessarily cause immediate deletion or pause the normal retention schedule.

This cancellation fee applies only to purchases that accepted terms containing this cancellation fee. Earlier purchases retain the refund terms accepted at checkout.

This policy does not affect your rights under applicable law.

Common refund questions

  • Only tried Test mode? Designated test uploads do not count as guest collection, but the 14-day request deadline still applies.
  • Event cancelled? The same cancellation rules apply. Requests outside those rules are reviewed case by case, subject to mandatory rights.
  • Event postponed or date entered incorrectly? Contact support about a date change. Neither a new date nor a refund is automatic; rely on the revised schedule we confirm.

9. Your content and permissions

You retain your existing rights. PhotoOra does not acquire ownership of submitted content. Copyright may belong to someone other than the host, uploader, or person depicted. Submit only material you own or are authorized to share, and obtain legally required privacy, publicity, and other permissions.

You grant PhotoOra a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to receive, store, copy, process, resize, transmit, and display your content only to provide the requested service, address support and safety matters, and meet legal obligations. Our service providers may perform these limited tasks for us. The license lasts only as long as those purposes require, including lawful restricted preservation, and ends when the relevant copies are deleted and those purposes end.

This license does not allow PhotoOra to sell your content, use it in advertising, or train machine-learning models on it. Promotional use requires separate permission.

By contributing, a guest authorizes the host to view, download, print, and retain the contribution for personal, non-commercial event and keepsake purposes. If the guest makes it eligible for the slideshow, this also permits display to that event's audience. A corporate event may use the collection tools, but additional commercial uses need separate rights.

Uploading does not grant a right to sell, license, publish publicly, or advertise with another person's content or likeness. Those uses require separate rights where applicable. Host-held copies remain subject to the permissions granted, other applicable rights, and lawful removal obligations.

PhotoOra's software, branding, and other service materials belong to us or our licensors. You may use them through the service for its intended purpose, but these Terms do not transfer their ownership to you.

Subject to these Terms and the package you obtain, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the service for its intended event functions during your access period. Guest invitations are permitted. Reselling accounts or service access, removing ownership notices, or copying or reverse engineering our software is not permitted except to the extent applicable law gives you a right that cannot be restricted by contract.

10. Hosts, guests, and slideshow review

Hosts control invitations and the slideshow audience. Explain how contributions will be used, obtain permissions where required, and take particular care with children and sensitive occasions. Possession of a QR code does not establish every necessary permission.

Guest names are optional and self-declared; they are not verified identities. Guests should check the destination event, respect other people's rights, and avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information. Hosts and guests must follow the Acceptable Use Policy.

New events start in Review first mode, requiring host approval before slideshow display. Hosts can select Live mode to display eligible contributions without prior approval. Host review is not automated or professional content screening. PhotoOra does not provide automated content screening or continuously monitor events.

Each person is responsible for the material they submit and the uses they authorize. A host must not encourage infringement, ignore a known unlawful use they control, or treat a private event as permission to use someone else's work or likeness. A host is not automatically responsible under these Terms for every unknown act of another guest. These responsibilities do not transfer PhotoOra's own legal duties to the host.

Claims caused by unlawful content or misuse

To the extent permitted by law and where you have capacity to undertake this obligation, you agree to reimburse PhotoOra LLC and its personnel acting for the company for reasonable outside legal costs, damages finally awarded, and settlements you approve, arising from a third party's claim to the extent caused by content you submitted without the rights or permissions required by these Terms, or by your unlawful or intentional misuse of the service. This is a limited indemnity: it concerns another person's claim caused by your conduct, not an automatic fee or penalty.

We must promptly notify you of the claim, provide reasonable cooperation, and allow you a reasonable opportunity to arrange the defense with qualified counsel acceptable to us. Late notice reduces your obligation to the extent it materially harms your defense. Neither party may agree to a settlement that binds the other, admits the other's wrongdoing, or imposes non-monetary obligations on the other without that party's written consent, which must not be unreasonably withheld. You do not reimburse loss to the extent caused by PhotoOra's own breach, negligence, misconduct, or violation of law, and this clause does not shift non-transferable legal duties or restrict protected complaints or reviews.

11. Reports, restrictions, and account closure

Anyone can report content without an account or the host's permission. Use Content Removal for privacy or safety concerns and the Copyright Policy for copyright notices and counter-notices. We may review reported content, restrict access, remove material, preserve necessary evidence, or make reports required by law.

We may proportionately restrict an item, event, or account to address a violation, compromise, payment reversal, legal requirement, or serious operational risk. Where practical and lawful, we provide an explanation and a chance to correct a problem or request review. Urgent risks can require immediate action without notice. Appeals do not pause urgent removal duties.

You can stop using PhotoOra or ask support to close your account. We may verify authority before a destructive action. Closing an account does not automatically grant a refund or erase records that must lawfully remain. We remain responsible for our own legal obligations.

If we discontinue paid service for reasons other than your breach or payment reversal, we will give reasonable notice where possible and address unused paid service and any required remedy. This does not permit retroactive removal of purchased benefits merely because packages change. Our commitments for failure to provide purchased service are described in the cancellation policy.

12. Availability and responsibility

Please read this section. It limits the compensation available for some claims. PhotoOra is a temporary event service, not the only place to keep irreplaceable files. The exceptions below preserve rights that the law does not allow us to limit.

We cannot promise uninterrupted access, successful delivery of every upload, compatibility with every device, or freedom from all data loss. Except for our express commitments and rights that cannot be excluded, the service is supplied on an “as available” basis without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent those exclusions are lawful. Keep originals and check that your downloaded files open correctly.

We are not responsible for a failure to the extent caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as a widespread communications outage or natural disaster, that we could not reasonably prevent or overcome. An outside provider's involvement does not automatically excuse our own failures or remove the refund commitments in section 8. We will take reasonable steps to reduce disruption and tell affected customers about material interruptions when practical.

Excluded losses. To the extent permitted by law, PhotoOra is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue, business opportunities, or goodwill arising from use of the service. This includes such losses resulting from unavailable or lost content. It does not exclude a category of loss or remedy that applicable law requires us to cover.

Limit on compensation. Subject to the exceptions below, our combined total liability to you for claims arising from a paid event is limited to the total amount actually paid to PhotoOra for that event. If a claim concerns several paid events, the limit is the total paid for those affected events. For claims relating only to free use or not connected to a paid event, the combined total limit is US$100. Related claims are combined, rather than creating a separate limit for each incident, legal theory, or defendant. These limits apply whether the claim is based on contract, ordinary negligence, or another legal theory, only to the extent the law permits.

Where lawful, these exclusions and limits also protect PhotoOra's members, managers, employees, and contractors for conduct in providing the service for PhotoOra; they share the applicable limit rather than receiving separate limits. This provision does not extend to their unrelated conduct or another provider's separate contract with you.

Exceptions. These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, intentional or willful misconduct, gross negligence, liability for death or personal injury that cannot lawfully be limited, or any other duty, liability, or consumer remedy that cannot be excluded or limited. They do not reduce an expressly promised refund, our privacy and data-protection obligations, or a legally required remedy. Nothing makes you responsible for PhotoOra's own legal violations.

13. Disputes and applicable law

Contact support with the event reference and outcome you seek. We encourage good-faith resolution, but contacting us does not suspend a legal deadline or prevent urgent relief, a regulator complaint, or a legally protected claim.

Colorado law governs these Terms and disputes about the service, without using its conflict-of-laws rules to displace that choice. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections of the law where you live that cannot be removed by this choice.

Unless applicable law entitles you to bring or defend a claim elsewhere, disputes will be brought in the state courts of Colorado or, where federal jurisdiction exists, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the parties consent to those courts' jurisdiction. Either party may bring an eligible claim in a small-claims court with jurisdiction. This does not restrict a regulator complaint or legally available urgent relief. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

14. Changes, notices, and other terms

We will date revised Terms and give appropriate notice of material changes through the service or account email before they take effect, except where a legally permitted urgent change requires otherwise. We obtain renewed acceptance where required. A changed webpage alone does not establish your acceptance.

Changes do not retroactively enlarge content permissions or reduce agreed benefits of a completed purchase without a lawful basis and any required agreement. You may keep a copy of the version you accept. Service notices do not automatically enroll you in marketing emails.

The documents identified in section 1 and any individually agreed written terms form the agreement for the service they cover. They do not cancel mandatory rights or legally binding representations made before purchase. A transfer of PhotoOra's business must preserve existing purchase and privacy commitments. You may not transfer your account or contractual obligations without our agreement, except where the law permits it; this does not prevent the guest invitations and downloads described above.

Nothing in these Terms prohibits honest reviews, good-faith complaints, lawful reporting, or cooperation with a regulator or law enforcement. You do not give up ownership of a review by posting it.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder applies to the extent lawful. A delay in enforcement is not a permanent waiver. Provisions that by their nature need to continue after account closure, including lawful content retention, accrued payment obligations, and dispute provisions, survive only to the extent needed and permitted by law.

Questions about these Terms: support@photoora.com.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PhotoOra handles information about visitors, hosts, guests, people depicted in contributions, and people who contact us.

The essentials. Guests do not need accounts, but uploads are not necessarily anonymous. The host can view and download contributions. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use uploaded content to train machine-learning models. Gallery hosting is time-limited, and deleting a service copy cannot recall someone else's download.

1. Who is responsible

PhotoOra is operated by PhotoOra LLC. General and privacy questions: hello@photoora.com. Account, event, and billing help: support@photoora.com.

For privacy requests, email hello@photoora.com. For unwanted or harmful images, use Content Removal or email removal@photoora.com.

This policy covers our service, not a host's independent use of downloaded files or another company's website. Hosts decide whom to invite and how to use contributions within the permissions granted. Where a business host and PhotoOra have separate legal responsibilities, each remains responsible for its own processing; any required data-processing agreement supplements, rather than replaces, this notice.

PhotoOra determines how it handles accounts, billing, security, and its own support and legal records. A host may have separate responsibilities for event invitations, notices, permissions, and later use of downloaded contributions. Uploading another person's information does not make that person a party to our Terms or remove their privacy rights.

2. Information we collect

We receive information you provide, information contributed by hosts or guests, and technical information generated when the service is used.

CategoryExamples
Host accountsEmail address, account identifier, authentication and verification records; name or profile information supplied through an optional sign-in provider.
Event detailsEvent title, type, date, package, welcome message, theme, ownership reference, settings, status, share-link records, and upload and expiration dates.
ContributionsPhotos, videos and their audio, optional names or captions where offered, file type and size, upload time, display preferences, processing status, and generated thumbnails or previews.
Agreements and sessionsAccepted document versions and linked policy copies, acceptance or server receipt time, checkbox notice, host account or guest session reference, and identifiers used to associate uploads and apply service limits. These identifiers do not verify a person's real identity.
PaymentsOrder, customer, payment and event references; package, amount, currency, payment status, refunds, disputes, and support records confirming cancellation eligibility and the verified refund. Payment providers receive payment details directly.
Technical recordsIP addresses, browser and device information, request identifiers, timestamps, operational logs, errors, and security or fraud-prevention signals.
CommunicationsSupport messages, contact information, delivery records, reports and notices, proportionate verification information, and records of our response.
Browser-held informationLogin state, preferences, agreement receipts, cached gallery information, onboarding state, a temporary package selection carried from pricing through sign-in, and locally saved album layouts.

Content can reveal faces, voices, relationships, location, religion, health information, or other sensitive facts without a name or caption. We do not use face recognition or create facial templates to identify people. Please avoid submitting information that is unnecessary for the event.

3. What hosts and guests can see

Guests can contribute without creating an account or supplying an email address or phone number in the upload form. An optional name or caption accompanies the contribution. Recognizable content, session identifiers, and technical logs mean an account-free upload is not guaranteed anonymity.

The host can view and download contributions and accompanying names or captions. Content eligible for the slideshow may be shown to the event's audience. A "Host only" preference, where offered, prevents slideshow display within PhotoOra; it does not prevent the host from downloading, printing, or making another copy.

The guest QR code or link does not grant host gallery privileges. Nevertheless, someone who receives a valid temporary media link may access it while it remains valid. Hosts control their devices, projected screens, and exported files. Report concerns about content on PhotoOra even if you do not have an account.

4. Image processing and metadata

The standard browser uploader resizes large photos and re-encodes them as JPEG. This changes the stored file and normally removes metadata such as EXIF GPS fields. It is not a guarantee that every accepted file is free of identifying or location information.

Videos are generally uploaded without metadata removal and may retain device or location information. Landmarks, voices, captions, and visible details can identify a person or place regardless of metadata. Check sensitive files before contributing and keep originals when original quality matters.

5. How we use information

We use information to authenticate accounts; create and manage events; receive, process, store, and deliver contributions; provide gallery, slideshow, download, and album functions; process billing; send service communications; answer requests; investigate misuse; secure the service; and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising, display third-party advertising in the service, or use uploaded content to train machine-learning models. We do not use personal information for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. Optional marketing messages or materially different uses require the notices and choices applicable law requires before they begin.

Host review is not automated content screening. We may access content as reasonably needed for service processing, a support request, a reported violation, security, or a legal obligation. This is not permission to browse private galleries for unrelated purposes.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the particular activity: performing a contract with you for the service you request; legitimate interests in running and protecting the service, assessed against your rights; legal obligations such as required reporting or recordkeeping; and consent where required. We do not treat our contract with a host as a contract with everyone pictured. A legal basis that applies to ordinary information does not automatically authorize sensitive information or a new use.

6. Who receives information

We share relevant information with:

  • Event hosts and their audience: uploaded content and accompanying information, according to the event's settings and your display choices.
  • Service providers: companies that help with hosting, storage, sign-in, website features, security, and customer communications.
  • Payment providers: companies that process purchases, refunds, and payment-security checks. Their own privacy notices also apply.
  • Legal and safety recipients: authorities, appropriate safety organizations, professional advisers, or parties to a complaint when disclosure is legally required or otherwise lawfully necessary.

We limit service-provider access to the relevant purpose and use appropriate contractual safeguards where required. Disclosure for safety, legal claims, or a business transfer must remain consistent with applicable law and existing privacy commitments. A merger or sale does not create unrestricted permission to repurpose your information.

We may preserve or disclose relevant information to comply with a valid legal requirement, respond to a lawful claim, or address a serious safety or security concern, only where legally permitted or required. A request from a host, complainant, or authority does not by itself authorize unrestricted access to an entire gallery. We assess the request and limit any disclosure to its lawful purpose.

7. Cookies, browser storage, and outside connections

PhotoOra uses browser storage for login persistence, agreement receipts, preferences, cached information, a temporary package selection, and locally saved album layouts. Clearing browser storage or changing devices may remove layouts or settings. Export important layouts and files; locally stored work is not a promise of cloud backup.

Authentication and payment services can use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security, and fraud prevention. Payment scripts can collect device and session signals when loaded, even before payment. Externally loaded resources also receive ordinary request information. No advertising does not mean no third-party connections.

We do not change necessary service functions in response to legacy browser "Do Not Track" settings. We currently do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is no such processing for a sale or advertising opt-out signal to stop. This does not restrict other applicable privacy rights. If those practices change, we will provide required notice, choices, and recognized opt-out-signal handling before beginning them.

Other providers may associate activity across their own services according to their notices and your settings. You can manage browser storage, but blocking necessary storage may prevent sign-in, checkout, or other functions.

8. How long we keep information

Pre-launch status: media access periods are defined below. Production deletion timing, provider settings, and schedules for logs, support records, and recovery copies still require verification before this policy becomes effective.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes below or as required by law. Different categories do not necessarily expire together.

InformationRetention period or criteria
Event media and previewsFree access lasts 7 days from creation. Paid access lasts 6, 12, or 15 months from the scheduled upload closing date. After access expires, paid events have a 14-day administrative buffer before routine deletion begins; free events have no buffer. Scheduled deletion includes related previews. The buffer is not continued access or guaranteed recovery.
Incomplete uploadsKept only while needed to complete or reconcile the upload, then removed through abandoned-upload cleanup.
Account and event recordsKept while needed to operate the account or event and address an associated support, security, transaction, or legal matter. Closure triggers review of what can be deleted and what must remain.
Payment recordsKept for applicable accounting, tax, refund, payment-dispute, fraud-prevention, and legal-record requirements. These records do not require keeping an entire gallery.
Logs, agreements, and support casesKept for the period reasonably needed to diagnose operations, protect the service, respond to requests, and document relevant agreements or claims, considering sensitivity and applicable legal periods.
Safety or legal evidenceAccess-restricted retention for applicable reporting, preservation, dispute, or legal-hold requirements. Such retention is separate from ordinary gallery availability.
Service-controlled recovery copies, if maintainedRestricted until overwritten or expired under the relevant recovery cycle, unless lawful preservation is needed. Any recovery process must preserve access restrictions and reapply required deletions. Recovery configuration and disposal schedules have not yet been verified for launch.

Deletion may take time to propagate through operational systems. We do not retain information indefinitely simply because storage is available. Hiding, expiration, refunds, account closure, and deletion are different actions; tell us which outcome you need. We cannot delete files or browser copies independently held by other people. Urgent safety removal and legally required deletion follow their own deadlines, not the ordinary event-retention schedule.

9. Security and processing locations

We use measures such as account authentication, authorization controls, encrypted connections, and temporary media links. PhotoOra is not end-to-end encrypted: authorized systems and personnel may need access for service operations, support, safety, or legal duties. No system can guarantee that a loss or unauthorized access will never happen.

PhotoOra LLC is a U.S.-based business registered in Colorado. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries under their service arrangements. We do not claim that U.S. company location means U.S.-only data storage. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international processing, we must provide them; acceptance of the Terms alone is not a substitute.

10. Your choices and privacy requests

You may choose not to contribute, omit optional information, select an available "Host only" preference, and use available account or event controls. For access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your information, email hello@photoora.com. You do not need a PhotoOra account.

Provide your contact information and enough event or account context to locate the information. Do not send passwords, full card details, government ID, or sensitive images in your first message. We may request proportionate verification to protect you and others. Authorized representatives may submit requests; we may need to verify their authority.

Someone pictured or otherwise identified in a contribution can contact us directly; the host's approval is not required. We may ask for an event link, approximate date, or description to locate the material without asking you to redistribute it. We use verification information for handling and protecting the request, not unrelated marketing.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, rights may also include portability, restricting certain uses, withdrawing consent, opting out of sale, targeted advertising or certain profiling, appealing a denial, and complaining to a regulator. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a protected right. Your request does not authorize disclosure of another person's private content.

We respond within the deadline required by the law that applies to the request. Where a lawful extension is necessary, we explain the reason and revised timing within the initial period. We explain applicable exceptions to a request. Requests are generally free; any charge must be expressly permitted by law.

Appeals: reply to our decision or email hello@photoora.com with "Privacy appeal" and the relevant request reference. We review the decision and explain the outcome within the deadline required by the law that applies to your request. You may contact your state attorney general or other relevant privacy regulator. An appeal does not prevent you from raising a complaint directly.

For an intimate image shared without consent or another urgent content concern, use the content-removal process. Ordinary privacy-request processing must not delay an applicable urgent deadline.

11. Children and teenagers

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, purchase or host an event, or upload photos or videos to PhotoOra. Hosts and purchasers must also have legal capacity to enter the agreement. These services are intended for adults; a parent's permission does not make someone under 18 eligible. Adults may share family photos, including photos of children, when they have the required permissions.

If you believe someone under 18 has created an account or uploaded content, contact us with the event context. We will assess the report, restrict prohibited use, and delete information where required, subject to separate lawful preservation duties. Anyone may submit a privacy or removal request, regardless of age. Do not send additional photos of a child to prove a routine request.

Hosts should obtain legally required permissions for children’s images and carefully consider the slideshow audience. An age statement alone does not establish age verification, parental consent, or every protection required for teenagers.

Children's and teenagers' information remains protected when it appears in an adult's contribution or is provided in breach of our age requirement. We do not sell their information, use it for targeted advertising, or use it for decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. Files, especially videos, can still contain location information as explained above. Do not assume that a private invitation or a parent's permission removes applicable limits on collecting, using, or keeping a minor's data. When we learn that a contribution or practice creates a legally prohibited risk to a minor, we assess the concern and take the action the law requires.

12. Changes and contact

We update the date when this policy changes and provide appropriate notice of material changes. A changed policy does not by itself authorize new processing that requires consent or other safeguards. We respect applicable law and the commitments made when information was collected.

Acceptable Use Policy

PhotoOra is for collecting event memories. Help keep it safe, respectful, and lawful.

This policy applies to hosts, guests, and other service users and forms part of the Terms of Service. Platform rules can prohibit conduct even when it is not a crime.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, purchase or host an event, or upload photos or videos. Adults may share appropriate family photos, including photos of children, with the required permissions. Anyone may report a concern, regardless of age.

1. Content you must not submit

  • Child sexual exploitation: sexual abuse material, sexualized depictions of minors, grooming, solicitation, trafficking, or exploitation, including manipulated or synthetic material.
  • Intimate images shared without consent: real or realistically altered photos or videos of a person, including AI-generated depictions. Consent to taking an image is not automatically consent to sharing it.
  • Privacy invasions: voyeuristic or hidden-camera material from private settings, unlawful disclosure of sensitive personal information, or doxxing.
  • Abuse: threats, targeted harassment, extortion, encouragement of violence, or material used to intimidate or exploit someone.
  • Rights violations: content that infringes copyright, privacy, publicity, or other rights. Being in a photo or hosting the event does not necessarily give you the right to upload it.
  • Harmful files or unlawful material: malware, executable code disguised as media, deliberately damaging files, or other content prohibited by applicable law.

2. Misuse of the service

Do not access someone else's account, event, or files without permission; expose secret links; impersonate another person; make knowingly fraudulent billing or removal claims; evade package, trial, payment, or access restrictions; or use automation to disrupt the service or generate unreasonable costs.

Do not use an event as unrelated bulk storage, general backup storage, a spam service, or an unauthorized public file-hosting service. Do not sell, advertise with, or commercially redistribute guest contributions without the separate rights required. Do not re-upload removed material to evade a restriction.

Do not scrape private galleries, harvest people's contact details or identities, guess access tokens, bypass authentication, or use contributions to build recognition databases or train models without the necessary separate rights. Ordinary guest uploads, authorized host downloads, and accessibility tools used without bypassing permissions are allowed.

Do not share or resell host credentials, create replacement accounts to evade a suspension, or deliberately exhaust upload, processing, storage, or download capacity. A paid package permits the agreed event use; it does not authorize attacking the service or accessing another person's content.

Good-faith security reports are welcome at support@photoora.com. This is not permission to access private content, disrupt the service, or test beyond authorization, and does not establish a paid bug-bounty program.

See the Fair Use Policy for event storage and file allowances.

3. Host responsibilities

Invite the intended audience, explain how photos and videos will be used, and obtain permissions where legally required. Use particular care around children, private venues, and sensitive occasions. A QR sign does not establish every necessary permission.

Review first mode requires approval before slideshow display; Live mode can display eligible contributions without prior approval. Neither is automated content screening or a guarantee of appropriateness. Respect a guest's "Host only" choice and legitimate removal restrictions when using downloaded copies.

Do not present an event as anonymous, promise that PhotoOra provides permanent storage, or tell guests that ownership of their work transfers automatically to you. Obtain any additional rights needed for advertising, publication, or other uses outside the event permissions. Protect downloaded copies and any devices used to show the slideshow.

Respond respectfully to someone who raises a concern about their image. Hiding content can help stop slideshow display while a concern is assessed, but it does not delete the stored file. Use Content Removal when further action is needed.

4. Guest responsibilities

Check the destination event, contribute only material you are authorized to share, and consider what the file or caption reveals. Optional names must not be used to impersonate someone. The host can view and download your contribution, even when "Host only" is selected. Do not circumvent age or consent requirements.

Keep your originals, respect file limits, and confirm the upload result before closing the page. Metadata removal does not make recognizable people or places anonymous.

5. Enforcement and review

PhotoOra does not provide automated content screening or continuously monitor events. We may investigate reports or information that comes to our attention and take proportionate action, including warnings, access restrictions, stopped uploads, content removal, event or account suspension, restricted evidence preservation, and legally required reporting.

Urgent risks may require immediate action. Where practical and lawful, we explain the action and how to request review. Reply with the event or case reference and relevant corrections; do not resend prohibited images. A review request does not pause an urgent deadline or automatically restore content.

Copyright counter-notices follow the Copyright Policy. They do not override an independent safety or privacy restriction. Repeat infringement can result in account termination in appropriate circumstances.

The scope and duration of a restriction depend on the seriousness of the issue, available evidence, repeated conduct, and what is needed to protect people and the service. Restrictions are not an automatic forfeiture of every payment: applicable refunds and other rights remain governed by the Terms and the law. We may act on a credible urgent risk without waiting for a court decision, while preserving review rights where applicable.

6. Reporting a concern

Email removal@photoora.com or follow the reporting instructions. No account, payment, or permission from the host is required. Give a location reference and a description; do not attach intimate images or suspected child sexual abuse material.

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. PhotoOra is not an emergency-response service. Hosts' and guests' responsibilities do not replace PhotoOra's own legal obligations.

Good-faith reports and honest criticism are allowed even when we disagree with them or cannot substantiate a concern. The prohibition on knowingly false reports does not penalize an honest mistake. Do not threaten, harass, or retaliate against someone for reporting a concern, requesting removal, or exercising a legal right.

Fair Use Policy

PhotoOra is made for collecting memories from your event. Each paid package includes unlimited photo uploads within its shared storage allowance, plus the number of short video clips shown for that package.

What “unlimited photos” means

There is no numerical photo-count limit on paid packages. Photos and videos share a total upload storage allowance per event. Unlimited photos does not mean unlimited storage, unlimited videos, or permanent gallery hosting.

Event allowances

Scroll the table sideways to see all columns.

Current paid packages. Your confirmed purchase controls any different agreed entitlement.
PackageShared upload storageVideo clipsGallery period
Essential20 GB406 months
Celebration40 GB15012 months
Unforgettable100 GB1,00015 months

PhotoOra uses binary storage units: 1 GB here is 1 GiB (1,073,741,824 bytes), and 1 MB is 1 MiB (1,048,576 bytes). Photo and video files count toward the allowance after any upload processing. The free trial includes 5 photos, no videos, 80 MB of upload storage, and 7 days of access from creation.

Photos and videos

The standard browser uploader resizes large photos to a maximum dimension of 1,920 pixels and converts them to JPEG. Final file sizes vary with the image. Photos may be up to 12 MB after processing. Essential videos may be up to 60 MB and 10 seconds each. Celebration videos may be up to 100 MB and 20 seconds each. Unforgettable videos may be up to 100 MB and 20 seconds each. The current uploader does not recompress video files. Both the video-count limit and the shared storage allowance apply.

Downloads contain the files stored by PhotoOra, which may differ from the originals in resolution, format, metadata, or quality. Keep your original files separately.

Upload window and gallery access

Before the normal event window, each paid event includes up to 10 successful test uploads in total. Deleting a successful test upload does not reset the allowance; uploading it again uses another place. Failed or rejected uploads do not consume the allowance, and retrying the same upload does not count twice. Uploads still processing temporarily reserve places. Package file, video-count and storage limits still apply. Full uploads open 48 hours before your event and ordinarily close 7 days after it. Your paid gallery period runs from the upload closing date. Download your memories before the gallery expires. See the Terms of Service for event-date and retention details.

If an event reaches its allowance

Further uploads are blocked when the applicable storage or video allowance is full. Uploads that are still processing can temporarily reserve capacity. Hiding a photo does not free storage; deleting it frees capacity once deletion completes. Reaching a limit does not itself delete existing memories or extend the gallery period. Contact support@photoora.com if you need help with an event's capacity.

Use your gallery for its event

Do not use an event as an unrelated backup drive, general file-hosting service, or a way to bypass package limits. Automated flooding, repeated requests intended to generate costs, and evasion of restrictions are covered by the Acceptable Use Policy.

Content Removal

Report an unwanted image, privacy concern, or harmful content. You do not need an account, the host's permission, or copyright ownership to ask for help.

Send a report: email removal@photoora.com. Reporting is free. Send a reference and a description, not intimate images or suspected child sexual abuse material. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

1. Intimate images shared without consent

If an intimate photo or video depicts you and was published on PhotoOra without your consent, you or an authorized representative can request removal. This includes realistic images created or altered using software or artificial intelligence. Consent to creating or privately sharing an image is not automatically consent to publishing it elsewhere.

For a valid request under this notice-and-removal process, we remove the reported depiction as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after receiving the request. Within that period, we also make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies on PhotoOra. The deadline uses calendar hours, including weekends and holidays, not business days.

What your written request needs

Email removal@photoora.com with:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature as the person depicted or an authorized representative. A typed name can serve as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the content and information reasonably sufficient to locate it. An event link, item reference, approximate upload time, and a description can help. Send the information you have; an exact file URL is not always necessary.
  3. A brief statement of your good-faith belief that the identified intimate depiction was published without the depicted person's consent, including relevant context. A representative should explain their authority.
  4. Contact information we can use to reply to you or your representative.

I am the person depicted / an authorized representative. I have a good-faith belief that the intimate depiction identified here was published without the depicted person's consent. Please remove it.

The subject "Intimate image removal" helps routing but is not required. You do not need a court order, police report, or proof of copyright ownership. We do not routinely require government ID or a new intimate photo. If necessary information is missing, we seek clarification promptly and may restrict clearly harmful material immediately. Unnecessary verification must not delay action on a valid request.

Do not download, attach, or redistribute harmful imagery to make the report. These instructions implement our process for requests of the kind addressed by the TAKE IT DOWN Act. You can report a platform's failure to provide or follow a required process through the FTC's TAKE IT DOWN reporting site.

2. Child-safety concerns

Report suspected child sexual exploitation urgently to removal@photoora.com. Give the event or item reference and a non-graphic description. Do not attach, copy, or request suspected child sexual abuse material. Ordinary email is not an appropriate channel for transferring it.

We promptly assess the report, restrict access where appropriate, and follow applicable reporting and preservation duties, including reports to NCMEC's CyberTipline when required. Evidence that must be preserved is secured with restricted access, separate from ordinary gallery availability. Removing access is not an instruction to destroy legally required evidence.

A child's intimate-image concern can also qualify for the process above. Child-safety routing must not delay an applicable 48-hour removal deadline. You can also make a public report through NCMEC's CyberTipline. A person reporting a concern is not expected to decide its legal classification.

3. Other unwanted images and privacy concerns

For an unwanted photo of you, harassment, exposed personal information, or another policy concern, send enough information to find the content, explain the concern, and provide a reply contact. You may ask the host to help, but doing so is not a prerequisite to contacting PhotoOra.

We assess the request under applicable privacy rights and our policies and remove or restrict content where appropriate. We ask only for verification proportionate to the request and do not disclose an entire private event to investigate one person’s concern. This routine assessment does not replace the urgent intimate-image process above.

For account closure, access, correction, or a copy of personal information, use Privacy requests. That process does not replace urgent image-removal handling.

If your copyrighted work was used without authorization, email dmca@photoora.com and follow the Copyright Policy for notices and counter-notices. A person depicted can request privacy or intimate-image removal without claiming copyright they do not own.

5. What happens next

We identify the relevant content and urgency, seek only necessary clarification, assess the report, and apply appropriate removal, access restrictions, or lawful preservation. Where lawful and safe, we tell you the outcome or explain what information is still needed.

We handle reports sensitively but cannot promise absolute secrecy. Information may need to be disclosed to authorities or another party under a lawful process; copyright counter-notices, for example, must be forwarded as explained in the Copyright Policy. We do not publicly identify complainants as part of an ordinary report response.

To request review of a decision, reply with the case or event reference and explain the suspected error. A review does not automatically restore content or pause an urgent deadline. Ordinary requests are handled according to urgency and applicable law.

6. Hiding, removal, and independent copies

Hiding from the slideshow can leave a file stored and accessible to the host. Removal addresses relevant copies within PhotoOra's control, including thumbnails and previews. Legally required preserved evidence remains access-restricted.

We cannot recall a file someone independently downloaded, printed, or photographed from a screen. This does not excuse removal of service-controlled copies or legally required efforts to locate identical copies. A free account or unavailable self-service delete button does not prevent a valid removal request.

7. Contact and emergencies

Content reports: removal@photoora.com. You can also contact support@photoora.com or hello@photoora.com and explain the reporting problem and urgency. A report received at another PhotoOra address is routed to the appropriate process without resetting its original receipt time.

PhotoOra is not an emergency-response service. Contact local emergency services for an immediate threat to someone's safety.
